Cycling Trip Checklist

Cycling Holidays and Camps in Southern Spain

Cycling Trip Checklist

Whether you’re about to embark on your first ever cycling trip or you’re a regular traveller, its always useful to have a thorough checklist to help make sure you’ve packed everything you’ll need. Here’s our ultimate checklist of everything you should think about before you leave and the kit we recommend bringing on your next camp:

Before you fly

Get your bike serviced – ensure your bike is clean and in good working order before travelling
Hire a bike box or bag – make sure your bike is well protected on the flight
Book your luggage correctly – avoid expensive charges by selecting the right type of luggage
Complete our pre-arrival survey – make sure we have all the right emergency information

Make it simple

If bike boxes and flying with oversized luggage seems like a headache then why not hire a bike? Our rental partners have a fleet of over 200 high-quality bicycles to choose from. Reserve your bike.

Keep these essentials in your hand luggage to make your journey smooth. Don’t forget to have your charger on hand for when your phone battery inevitably goes flat after a day of travelling.

EHIC card
Boarding pass
Mobile phone (+ charger)
Laptop (+ charger)
Any other gadgets and chargers
Plug socket adapters

On the bike

Although we’re based in southern Spain it’s important to remember that even on the hottest days there can still be snow at the top of mountains or a sudden thunderstorm.

2-3 x cycling shorts or bib shorts
1 x leg/knee warmers
1 x tights or bib tights
2-3 x cycling jerseys
1 x arm warmers
1 x long sleeve jersey
2-3 x base layers
1 x gilet
1 x waterproof jacket
Several pairs cycling socks
Cycling gloves (mitts and long fingered)
Cycling shoes

In your saddlebag

Our package training camps are supported by a follow car but we recommend that you carry basic tools with you. If you know you have unusual or specialist components then think about bringing spares.

2 x 750 ml water bottles
On the bike nutrition, energy and hydration
2 x spare inner tubes
Tyre levers
Bike computer (+ charger)

Off the bike

When you get back to the hotel you’ll want to wash, put on comfortable clothes and relax. Don’t forget these essentials:

Wash kit
Personal medication
Chamois cream
Hopefully you won’t need these, but just in case:
Pain killers
Insect repellent
Basic first aid kit
Casual clothes
Warm jumper/top
Trainers/casual shoes
